6. Taking Back Her Birthright - Hela (Thor: Ragnarok)
Ragnarok is the third entry in a row on this list that made the hero's battle a family affair. After revealing Loki as a fraud on Asgard, and finding Odin in Norway, Thor found out that he had an older sister, and as soon as his father passed, she returned looking for her throne.
Hela, as the first born child of Odin, actually had more right to the throne than Thor, and simply returned from her banishment claiming her birth right. Understandably, she was impatient and angry, after being imprisoned by her own father for thousands of years. Immediately she proved her threat was real when she destroyed Mjolnir with ease.
Though Cate Banchlett's character was technically in the right as far as the line of succession goes, Thor was forced to forget tradition. As a megalomaniac who would have brought war and death to Asgard, Hela simply needed to be stopped by whatever means necessary.
This story is actually quite a unique one, in that the hero wasn't strong enough to defeat his enemy. Instead, such was her power and threat, Thor had to summon a literal demon in the form of Surtur to destroy both his sister and his home. It was Hela that truly made the God of Thunder step up to the role of king, and protect his people.
