Before being disfigured and taking the mantel of Crossbones, Brock Rumlow was the leader of SHIELD's elite Strike Force, a highly-trained fighter and marksman who just so happened to be working for HYDRA behind closed doors.

After HYDRA's latest plan was brought down by Captain America, Rumlow was crushed by a falling helicarrier, and once he was healed he was given new battle armour and powerful gauntlets that gave him superhuman strength. Due to his injuries, he also didn't feel pain, and was able to beat Black Widow hand-to-hand before being taken down by Cap.

He remains one of the franchise's most criminally underused characters.
