Every Michael Bay Movie Ranked Worst To Best
5. 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers Of Benghazi
Michael Bay's 2016 action flick 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi is the director at his most considerate and character driven. A much tamer film than the nearly everything else in his filmography, 13 Hours is a mature depiction of real life heroes and the worst of what war has to offer.
With focus on six soldiers who must band together to protect a diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya from terrorists, the film boasts a redefining performance from Office star John Krasinski and sees Bay take a slight step back from the over the top antics of the Transformers series. Instead of filling in the plot with explosions and off-kilter humour, 13 Hours is instead an often powerful, character-driven piece of cinema, which paints a frank and moving portrait of the bravery of those being portrayed.
Visually striking and claustrophobic, 13 Hours is without question Bay's most focused and tightly-plotted picture. Unfortunately, we're not likely to see anything like this again, simply because it's the director's lowest-grossing film.
