11. Janek Vinter - Rogue Nation

Such is the lack of impact that this character made that this writer had to re watch the film he starred in to remember exactly who he was. Essentially playing Solomon Lane's right hand man, Janek Vinter could have been a truly worthy adversary for the IMF team, if the script didn't have him so easily defeated on several occasions.

Jens Hultén does what he can with the minimal role, his physical presence making him look like someone to genuinely fear, while his introduction during a torture scene of Ethan Hunt as 'The Bone Doctor' only adds to the feel of him being a top shelf villain. Unfortunately he is knocked out by Hunt in ridiculously easy fashion, and proves to be a continual non threat from here on.

Hultén is given his moment in the sun when Vinter engages in a knife fight with Ferguson's Ilsa Faust, but there is never any real sense that Vinter may actually win the fight. The scene is well crafted if a little tacked on, but the lack of more scenes like this does make the Vinter character feel like a bit of a wasted opportunity for a film craving a strong villain.
