Every Mission Impossible Villain Ranked From Worst To Best

6. August Walker/John Lark - Fallout

Hats off to Henry Cavill for making this character work so well, as it is the standard villain the franchise had done so many times before. The Government agent (this time CIA) gone rogue has been done to death in the MI world, but Cavill brings so much more than a bushy moustache to his role as August Walker aka John Lark to make his character seem fresh.

The laid back mannerisms of Cavill really works alongside Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt, so much so that it's almost a shame when the inevitable 'twist' occurs. Cavill comes across as super suave and unflappable as August Walker, even when he's taking down a rival agent in a bruising bathroom fight scene. His transition to the villainous John Lark is beautifully realised, the menace and frustration of the character bubbling to the surface when meets with Solomon Lane, aka Benji in a disguise.

It's a shame there wasn't an extra tweak to the Walker/Lark character in the same way Rebecca Ferguson's Ilsa Faust has been portrayed, as having him as an out and out bad guy was a slight let down. Still, that final helicopter chase and resulting fight scene on the edge of a clifftop is epic stuff, even if the trailers pretty much gave it all away. Maybe August Walker has a twin brother with an even bigger moustache for the 7th Impossible entry- now that we'd like to see!

While he likes to know himself as the 'thunder from down under', Luke is actually just a big dork who loves all things sport, film, James Bond, Doctor Who and Karaoke. With all the suave and sophistication of any Aussie half way through a slab, Luke will critique every minute detail of films and shows from all eras- unless it's 1990's Simpsons episodes, because they're just perfect
