Every Mitchell And Webb Film And TV Project Ranked From Worst To Best
15. Confetti
Didn’t we just do this one? No? Oh.
Confetti is a 2006 romantic comedy film, presented in a mockumentary style that sounds more interesting than it is in practice. It follows contestants in a competition to create the most original wedding, with the winners being awarded a house and cover shoot by prestigious bridal magazine, Confetti.
Webb is teamed up with Olivia Colman as a naturist couple who plan on having a completely nude wedding. Colman in particular shines, portraying a somewhat conflicted new convert to naturism, in a semi-improvised script inspired by the contemporary success of Curb Your Enthusiasm. The couple are ultimately unsuccessful in the competition with staff at the magazine largely aghast at their whole wedding concept.
As befitting the film’s middling ranking, the picture is relatively watchable if a little forgettable. Both Colman and Webb would be critical of the film after release, feeling they had been misled about exactly how much nudity would be included in the final cut of the film, even at one point beginning legal proceedings against the movie’s producers.
