Every Mitchell And Webb Film And TV Project Ranked From Worst To Best

16. The Wedding Video

The Wedding Video is a 2014 romantic comedy film, presented in a found footage style that sounds more interesting than it is in practice. The best man, played by Rufus Hound offers to create a documentary of the couple’s wedding in lieu of a present.

Robert Webb plays the groom, who is the brother to Hound’s character. As the plot unravels, the bride and best man fall for each other whilst making the documentary. Webb’s groom is then binned off at the alter and replaced with Hound, meaning the video documentary has been more about the blossoming romance between bride and best man, than the intended subjects.

The film would release to a lukewarm reception, neither offending nor really capturing the attention of any critics. Despite a leading role in the film, Rufus Hound would go onto do mostly theatre and radio work after this, not helped by comments in 2017 to the effect of the Manchester Arena bombing being a false flag operation by Theresa May’s government.
