Every Mitchell And Webb Film And TV Project Ranked From Worst To Best

13. The Incredible Adventures of Professor Branestawm

The first Professor Branestawm film is of a similar standard to its sequel, only really appearing higher in the list due to it being the first film and therefore ever so slightly more original. There is more of a general plot focusing on the Professor himself and the many comic consequences of his zany inventions. The series is based on an incredibly long running series of children’s books from Norman Hunter, with this film focusing on the 1933 book of the same name.

David Mitchell appears again as a villainous councillor, this time plotting to transform the way of life in the sleepy village of Great Pagwell, and get rid of the troublesome scientist at the same time.

The film’s viewership success at a time when Christmas viewing was increasingly moving to streaming services was enough to convince the BBC to commission a follow up at the same time the following year.
