Every Modern Disney Live Action Remake (So Far) Ranked

8. Dumbo (2019)

The Lion King Simba
Disney

One of the more "different" adaptations of classic stories not quite following the original script, Dumbo was in some ways enjoyable, but in many ways still missed the mark when it came to putting together a solid movie.

The story is mainly framed around the human characters rather than Dumbo himself, and while the cast is star-studded, the CGI elephant remains the movie's emotional core, making a lot of the added plot feel just a little superfluous. The performances of the characters themselves ranged from okay to great.

What this film did well, however, was push the emotion that the original Dumbo film pushed, with a baby animal missing his mother making for heartbreakingly sweet moments, and Dumbo's relationship with his human caretakers does a lot right.

Another Tim Burton live action CGI Disney joint, this one is at least lot more charming than its Wonderland predecessor, and enjoyable enough to be worth the viewing.
