Every Movie That Received An F CinemaScore Ranked From Worst To Best

3. Mother (2017)

Mother Jennifer Lawrence
Paramount

The most recent movie to receive an F grade, Darren Aronofsky's biblical allegory about an expectant mother (Jennifer Lawrence) seeking to defend her home from a fleet of zealots gets no marks for subtlety, but it is a fiercely uncompromisingly, sharply-acted ride all the same.

Paramount shot themselves in the foot by marketing mother! as a more conventional, down-the-line horror film, when the end product was more of a surreal slow-burn, so the F score was hardly surprising given how willingly the studio misled audiences.

It's a heavily divisive film even in film buff circles, but at least it's an interesting, boundary-pushing effort, and proves Lawrence isn't just resting on her laurels as she so easily could.
