12. Lost Souls (2000)

Lost Souls Winona Ryder
New Line Cinema

The infamous directorial debut of legendary, two-time Oscar-winning cinematographer Janusz Kamiński (Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan), Lost Souls strands the too-talented likes of Winona Ryder, Elias Koteas and John Hurt in a thriller about a group of people trying to prevent Satan from inhabiting the body of a man (Ben Chaplin) on Earth.

Somehow made for a ludicrous $50 million, only a fraction of that price tag actually made it onto the screen, while perhaps only John Hurt emerges with his dignity in tact, and despite working with so many talented directors over his career, Kamiński made cornball hokum out of a not-totally-awful premise.

Winona Ryder is capable of elevating many bad films, but Lost Souls is such a colossal, slow-moving bore even she's a challenge to watch.
