Every Nick Robinson Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

8. The 5th Wave

Jurassic World Zach Mitchell Nick Robinson

One of the many installments in the YA dystopian category, The 5th Wave had to do a lot to prove itself.

Centering on the arrival of an alien species known as The Others that attempts to manipulate the young while exterminating the rest of the human race, the film was an adaptation of the acclaimed novel by Rick Yancey and, given that it had a cast of Robinson, Chloe Grace Moretz, Maika Monroe, Alex Roe and Liev Schreiber, the project also had a lot of potential. And while it was admittedly a lot of fun - with some impressive visual effects - it fed into some of the genre's biggest issues, prioritising underdeveloped romance over the compelling sci-fi plot.

Yes, The 5th Wave's biggest sin is that it's a good movie that could have been great. The cast are exceptional with what they're given but, as some of the best material ended up on the cutting room floor (there are 30 extra minutes of deleted scenes), the final cut of the film paled in comparison to Yancey's novel.

If you watch it back with those deleted scenes reinstated, however, it's 100 times better.
