Every Peter Jackson Film Ranked Worst To Best

1. The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

In the end, though, it could be only one, and for this list Peter Jackson's best film has to be the second installment of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Two Towers is just as character driven as its predecessor, but ups the intensity of the battles and Frodo and Sam's journey to Mordor with the proper introduction of Gollum.

Gollum may be the best character in the film, closely followed by Sam and his scene-stealing "the tales that really mattered" speech, but the reason The Two Towers beats the other films in the series is all down to the Battle of Helm's Deep. A dark, dangerous, epic and engaging conflict, Helm's Deep remains the best battle in the series.

Between the emotional musical score, Jackson's sweeping direction, the next-level battle scenes, Gollum's introduction and the hopeful ending, The Two Towers is Peter Jackson's true masterpiece, perfectly balancing the strengths of Return and Fellowship into one undeniably perfect film.
