Every Peter Jackson Film Ranked Worst To Best
11. Bad Taste (1987)
The first feature film of his career, Bad Taste is Peter Jackson's most bizarre film - and as you'll see that's saying a lot. A sci-fi comedy-horror in which a race of aliens arrive in a small rural town to harvest the locals for food, the film shifts between over-the-top gore and violence and hilarious character interactions.
Made on a shoestring budget, the film stars Jackson as both the film's hero and one of the aliens, with his off-screen friends not only co-starring, but helping him with funding. The result is a fast-paced, grotesque gore-comedy that is as strange as it is compulsively watchable.
Watching Bad Taste, you can't help but notice it's a film made by a filmmaker trying to break out into something bigger, but having one hell of a time in the process. The film lives up to its title, offering up some nasty visuals and absurd plot-points, and though it doesn't really have much to say outside of "Watch this! It's gonna be gross!", it's still good fun.
