34. Plutarch Heavensbee - The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)

Phillip Seymour Hoffman Doubt
Lionsgate

The second Hunger Games title is all about setting up the coming finale, and continues its predecessor's streak of adding great action sequences to its dark and grimy aesthetic.

Hoffman lends his talents to the already striking ensemble (Jennifer Lawrence, Woody Harrelson, Julianne Moore, Elizabeth Banks) as sinister politician-turned-rebel Plutarch Heavensbee. Despite usually being found acting in moving character studies and gutsy dramas, it's nice to see Hoffman cutting loose in a big budget blockbuster, even if his role here isn't as integral as it would become.
