Every Philip Seymour Hoffman Movie Ranked Worst To Best
16. Father Brendan Flynn - Doubt (2008)
Directed by John Patrick Shanely and based on his own Tony-winning play, Doubt casts Hoffman as secretive and charismatic Father Brendan Flynn, whose past is confronted by suspicious nuns Sister Beauvier (Meryl Streep) and Sister James (Amy Adams).
Doubt is a gruelling, constantly challenging experience grounded by a quartet of awe-inspiring performances from its three leads and supporting star Viola Davis, and sees Hoffman at his most nuanced and strikingly sinister. It's not a particularly easy film to watch, but it would be a major loss to miss out on all the same.
