Every Pixar Villain Ranked From Worst To Best

21. Zurg (Lightyear)

Though Toy Story fans were looking forward to seeing the evil Emperor Zurg once again, Pixar perhaps tried to get a little too cute for their own good with Lightyear's big twist, that Zurg isn't Buzz's (Chris Evans) father but an older, alt-future version of Buzz himself (voiced by James Brolin).

While James Brolin does a fine job in the role, fans were massively divided over this revelation, which not only contradicted established Toy Story lore - though it's possible the "real" Zurg is still out there somewhere - but also felt like a subversion merely for the sake of it.

It didn't help that Zurg is largely kept off-screen until the film's third act and barely makes much of a dent even when he does show up, effectively turning an iconic animated villain into a strangely dull footnote.
