Every R-Rated DC Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

2. Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay

Justice League Dark may have been a terrific animated film that utilized both dark story elements and character-based humor fantastically, but just a few months after its release, Warner Bros. Animation one-upped themselves with Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay.

This mature take on the titular team of notorious baddies is both an infinitely better adaptation than the DCEU's take on the Suicide Squad, as well as just an incredibly entertaining animated film in its own right.

First of all, of all the animated DC films mentioned so far, this is definitely the one that makes the absolute most of its R rating without feeling too try-hardy. This film pulls no punches when it comes to its violent moments or action sequences, which are complimented nicely by some rather great animation.

In addition to the violence, Hell to Pay's comedic aspects also work incredibly well and also benefit from the film's tone, which is as adult-oriented as it is bizarre.

Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay should honestly be considered Warner Bros.' definitive Suicide Squad film, as it has literally everything one should expect from the titular team. It's brutal, its exceptionally funny in its own twisted way, and, above all else, it's chock-full of unabashed insanity.

If you want to see the best possible "grown-up" movie set within the DC universe, then Hell to Pay is the film for you.
