Every Screen Batman Ranked From Worst To Best
7. Adam West (Batman 1966)
No matter how you feel about the the 1960s Batman show, there's no denying the fact that Adam West does what is asked of him for the role. He is a glorious kitsch creation, swathed in camp and cartoonishness, and while the approach almost killed Batman for everyone (not just on screen, but also in comics), there is still enormous pleasure to be had in watching West.
He is beautifully straight, despite the ridiculous material, and there's absolutely no way to criticise him given how much joy he brings to the interpretation. Obviously it's not Batman by any typical standard, but it's hugely fun, massively quotable and the stuff cult is made of.
The line delivery is, at all times, stunningly thespian, and though he's utterly illogical, West's eyebrow-pencil wearing oddity is a huge part of Batman screen lore.
