Every Single X-Men Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
10. The Wolverine
It may have been a vast improvement on Origins, but The Wolverine is still an absolute snoozefest. It's almost like James Mangold forgot he was making a superhero movie, which didn't work half as well as when he did it with Logan. Then again, we knew to expect difference then - for this sequel, all we wanted was an improvement.
Hugh Jackman looks in insane shape for the whole thing, which almost makes up for how much it mishandles the classic Japan-set comics arc. The problem is just that it's missing the magic of what Chris Claremont and Frank Miller created together.
The finale is a step up in quality, but it takes too long to get there and the film never takes advantage of being set in Japan in any way beyond it offering a pretty background. And the same goes for Wolverine really - swap any other superhero or action hero in his place and the film wouldn't be all that different.
