Every Spider-Man Movie Ranked Worst To Best
2. Spider-Man 2 (2004)
For a long time, it felt like Spider-Man 2 might well be the greatest comic book movie of all time. Even knocked off its top perch in the Spider-Man franchise, it's still up there with a huge shout of being the best live action comic book movie ever and that's an incredible suggestion.
After introducing his Peter Parker a couple of years before, Sam Raimi doubled down on his story, enjoying the freedom from exposition that a sequel fundamentally comes with. And given the space to realise his own vision in a way that Spider-Man 3's production obviously couldn't, Raimi soared.
The sequel basically does everything you'd want from a follow-up, building on everything we'd already seen in its predecessor, running with ideas in new ways and escalating the threat to Spider-Man with a bad guy even better than Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin in the shape of Alfred Molina's Doc Ock.
