11. Venom (2018)

Eventually, rankings like this will probably include lots of Spider-Verse spin-offs, including the likes of Morbius, Kraven and the Sinister Six, but for now, only Venom leads the way on that front.

Spider-Man might not be in his movie, but Venom is a Spider-Man character and Eddie Brock does mention the Daily Globe, and Carnage is hinted at in the post-credits scene. There surely can't be a future where Spider-Man doesn't meet this version of Venom.

Tom Hardy's double performances as Brock and Venom are brilliant - both grotesque and disarmingly funny at times - and there's huge goodwill to see him return. It's just a shame that everything around him is a mess. The story is poor, the supporting characters dull and the tone sloppy. But there's potential here that hopefully a more creative approach to the sequel can take advantage of.
