Every Spider-Man Movie Villain Ranked From Worst To Best
8. Venon (Spider-Man 3)
Topher Grace's take on Venom in Spider-Man 3 was an unholy mess long before the character covered himself in black goo.
Letting the bad CGI and the actor's inability to play a convincing psychopath slide for now, Sam Raimi clearly misunderstood what makes the character ticks.
Eddie Brock is supposed to have a tragic side, a degree of relatability which keeps the audience on side when he becomes a symbiotic monster with hefty fangs.
In the source material, Brock is an ambitious reporter whose life spirals out of control when one bad call results in him losing his job, followed by his marriage and his relationship with his father, later succumbing to depression.
Grace's Brock, however, was a snivelling weasel who deserved everything he got in the short amount of screen time Spider-Man 3 was able to offer with the Sandman and Goblin Jr also on its plate.
The only saving Grace is that Venom added something different to the original Spider-Man trilogy and made the third film a shade darker than its predecessor.
