Every Spider-Man Movie Villain (Ranked From Worst To Best)

4. Green Goblin (The Amazing Spider-Man 2)

Sometimes, less is more. If you totted up the screen time devoted to Electro€™s and the Green Goblin€™s origins in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, you€™d surely find that the former gets the bigger slice of the actio. However, Dane DeHaan€™s Harry Osborn is arguably the better villain. It doesn€™t take much to set up Harry Osborn€™s villainous arc in this movie. They establish early on that Pete€™s old friend Harry is back in town, using only a couple of scenes to achieve that. Later, in one brief scene, Norman Osborn gives Harry his evil motivation (the family disease that only going after Spider-Man can cure). From that simple set up, we know everything we need to. The final fight between Harry and Peter €“ where Gwen meets her maker €“ is the most memorable scene of the movie, too. Tellingly, although we see Peter fight Electro more, this scene has the greater lasting impact. The reason for that? There€™s actually stakes that feel real. This simple origin and memorable battle do a lot of the heavy lifting, but Dane DeHaan deserves some praise, too. Despite not getting many scenes to sell us the transition, he goes from old friend to arch enemy remarkably well. The scene of his drinking on his own seems a little clichéd, but other than that he does fine work.
