Every Star Trek Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

10. Star Trek: Insurrection

Paramount

Insurrection, much like the other odd numbered Trek films, is a divisive work. Directed by Jonathan Frakes, the ninth Star Trek film very much feels like a two-parter episode of The Next Generation, albeit without the sticking power.

Centred around the Enterprise as they uncover a conspiracy between the Federation and the Son'a, an alien offshoot of the Ba'ku people, Insurrection is a film made for people invested in TNG. It plays around with the tropes of that show okay enough, and Brent Spiner's Data was a key highlight, but the film was still an unremarkable affair, making First Contact the one and only TNG film to do the series any justice.

Despite its shortcomings, however, Insurrection should be commended for at least attempting something different. There are some interesting concepts thrown around in there, not least the one which sees the Enterprise's crew de-aged temporarily, but it still fails to inspire nonetheless.
