Every Star Wars Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

7. Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)

Nothing the franchise has ever done or will ever do can possibly the match the dread-filled disappointment of realising that the 15-year wait for a new Star Wars movie just wasn't worth all that hype.

Yes, Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor are great additions to the franchise, but the movie ultimately came to represent George Lucas at his most dangerously unrestrained.

Over-explaining the Star Wars universe, introducing Jar Jar Binks and giving a promising villain (Darth Maul) a thoroughly bad send-off, this is a film that just underwhelms and frustrates at every turn.

It's a lot more watchable than Attack of the Clones though, and a whole 9 minutes shorter.

Best Moment: The epic handicap match as Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan take on Darth Maul set to John Williams' awesome "Duel of the Fates". Shame about Maul's lame demise, though.

Worst Moment: Young Anakin asking Padme, "Are you an angel?" The cringe is off the charts (even if it's hard to pick just one quote).
