2. Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977)

Star Wars Rogue One

It's the one that started it all. There is so much movie magic and iconography embedded into this film that has touched almost every corner of pop culture.

It is rough around the edges for sure, but as one of the very first blockbusters and a film that helped foster the public's fascination with sci-fi, its influence and sheer entertainment value are undeniable.

While it doesn't quite manage to be the best of the nine movies, it's an absolute classic any way you cut it.

Best Moment: Han Solo killing Greedo in the Cantina, setting him up as a morally ambiguous bada**...at least until George Lucas decided to retcon this in later re-issues of the movie.

Worst Moment: Luke being a whiny a**hole through most of the movie, typified by that risible "power converters" line.
