This supposed badass is defeated by a blind man, and his ineptitude leads to him getting slowly digested for a thousand years.

It might be an early sign Lucas didn’t have his finger on the pulse of the fanbase, since he’s claimed if he’d known how well liked Fett was, the character wouldn’t have suffered such a lame fate. He nearly added Fett surviving the Sarlacc Pit to the Return Of The Jedi Special Edition to make amends, only to decide it would have been a distraction.

Despite his lack of screentime and plot function, Fett is still beloved in the Star Wars universe, and he’ll no doubt receive his own spin-off in the years ahead; one that definitely wouldn’t be directed by Josh Trank.
