Every Stephen King Movie Ranked Worst To Best

12. Gerald's Game (2017)

Stephen King Movies Ranked

Another Mike Flanagan adaptation, Gerald's Game was based on a novel that never seemed destined for the big screen treatment, but the director found a way to make it sing.

The claustrophobic thriller follows a woman (a career-best Carla Gugino, poised to become a frequent Flanagan collaborator) whose abusive husband (Bruce Greenwood) dies whilst preparing to assault her, forcing her to contend with the many shades and secrets of their turbulent marriage whilst handcuffed to their bed.

Horribly bleak and twisting King's novel into something altogether more terrifying, Gerald's Game is a suspenseful tale of survival that starts with a gut punch and doesn't let up until its despairing final image.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
