Every Steven Soderbergh Movie Ranked Worst To Best
19. Unsane (2018)
Soderbergh's first film shot on an iPhone, as well as his only pure-horror picture to date, Unsane stars Claire Foy as the stalked Sawyer Valentini, who accidentally admits herself to a psychiatric hospital and is forced to confront her tricky past.
Unsane shows Soderbergh spreading his wings, having only just come out of "retirement", eager to push himself and move away from the studio system.
A moody and creepily atmospheric exercise in tension, the film features nods to the MeToo movement and allows Claire Foy to really dig into the deep depths of Sawyer's despair.
Though it doesn't do much from a genre standpoint and trips up under its predictable plot twists, Unsane still works as a claustrophobic horror that all Soderbergh fans have to seek out.
