Every Steven Soderbergh Movie Ranked Worst To Best

18. Haywire (2012)

Oceans Eleven
Relativity

It's the action plot you've seen a million times before: A black ops agent (Gina Carano) is betrayed by the government and forced to go on a one-woman mission to unravel a conspiracy.

Haywire is Soderbergh's belated answer to Jason Bourne. It moves wickedly fast and the action is brutal, exciting and relentlessly entertaining. It also features a slew of great supporting roles for Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender, Michael Douglas and the late, great Bill Paxton.

As an action romp, then, Haywire soars and easily overcomes its tiresomely predictable plot.

But there are issues, mainly Gina Carano's shockingly abysmal lead performance. She may have done her own stunts with conviction, but the effort she put into her acting leaves little to be desired.

Haywire works as a fun, leave-your-brain-at-the-door thriller, and deserves to be seen despite it noticeable hiccups.
