Every Steven Soderbergh Movie Ranked Worst To Best
8. The Informant! (2009)
Soderbergh likes to work with the same actors over a number of films. George Clooney remains his most prolific collaborator, but Matt Damon has been in a wider range of Soderbergh classics over the years, the best of which (as a leading man) has to be The Informant!.
Damon stars as real-life businessman Mark Whitacre, who in the 90s worked with the FBI to bring down his company's corrupt insider trading.
But don't mistake The Informant! for a simple tale of white-collar espionage. The thriller isn't really about Whitacre's company, but his fragile mental state and his own corrupt dealings behind the scenes.
The ultimate "unreliable narrator" film, The Informant! is relentlessly fast-paced, funny, unbelievable and even heartbreaking. Whitacre's story has to be seen to be believed, and it's hard to think of a better director than Soderbergh to bring it to the big screen.
