Twilight Zone: The Movie is destined to forever be remembered for the infamous on-set helicopter accident which killed three of its actors, but it's not like the accident is remotely overshadowing some under-appreciated mini-masterwork from Spielberg.

His remake of the 1962 Twilight Zone episode "Kick the Can" is a thoroughly mediocre little romp, memorable only for Scatman Crothers' central performance. Otherwise, the tale - of a man with the magical ability to transform people back into children - is an offputtingly syrupy effort that just fails to muster much energy or do anything interesting.

In recent years Spielberg's episode has been taken to task for reinforcing the "magical negro" stereotype, and while the director clearly had no ill intent, nothing in his theatrical filmography has aged quite so badly.
