Every Superhero Movie This Decade Ranked - Worst To Best
32. Man Of Steel (2013)
Zack Snyder's Superman reboot is undeniably divisive, what with its more dour, Dark Knight-inspired interpretation of the Man of Steel, but it's also visually gorgeous, action-packed and a refreshingly haunting, cerebral depiction of the character.
Henry Cavill makes for a fine Supes, the supporting cast is terrific, and the movie boldly begs questions about heroism that, while not clicking with all fans, were at least ambitious and of-the-moment.
Not everyone agreed with Superman snapping Zod's (Michael Shannon) neck at the 11th hour, but it was a terrific provocation of the staid, out-of-date, black-and-white morality of the comics. In the morally ambiguous real world, having an unshakeable "no-kill rule" makes no sense at all.
And even if you weren't convinced by the movie as a whole, you can't really argue with Hans Zimmer's blisteringly brilliant musical score.
