Every Superhero Movie This Decade Ranked - Worst To Best

31. Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie (2017)

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie
20th Century Fox

Though you might've given this animated superhero flick a miss because of its silly name and it being adapted from a series of children's books, Captain Underpants is a visually lavish, witty and fast-paced romp that carves out a fine niche for itself in a crowded genre.

Managing to find a firm middle-ground between catering to the kiddies and providing enough subversive chuckles for adults - it's full of both poopy gags and meta jokes - Captain Underpants may not tout much in the way of a memorable narrative, but the characters, visuals and humour are all top-notch.

It doesn't all work, but it's nevertheless proof perfect of how animation is a perfect medium to make light of the superhero genre in the PG-13 arena.
