Every Superhero Movie This Decade Ranked - Worst To Best
21. Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015)
Though it fell undeniably short of Joss Whedon's predecessor, Avengers: Age of Ultron still served up an enjoyable superhero team-up for the most part, touting a suitably epic scale and ably setting the stage for the far more compelling Captain America: Civil War the next year.
Is it overstuffed with subplots? Yes. Is Ultron (James Spader) a bit of a disappointment? Absolutely. And was the Banner-Black Widow romance hilariously forced? Of course.
Even with all this and the sometimes excessive nature of Whedon's peppy banter, it's still consistently funny, introduces some intriguing new characters (especially Paul Bettany's Vision), gives Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) more to do and boasts far sharper visuals than the drab-looking original.
As far as bloated, over-the-top superhero sequels go, the MCU could do much, much worse.
