An epic, $200 million embarrassment for Warner Bros. and a humiliation that clearly still haunts Ryan Reynolds despite his success with Deadpool, Green Lantern had the budget, all-star cast and name director (Casino Royale's Martin Campbell) to make the titular superhero into a screen icon.

However, from the ill-advised decision to give Hal Jordan (Reynolds) a fully CGI suit, to the generally awful visual effects, constantly shifting tone, lame one-liners and somewhat awkward performance from Reynolds, there's not a single element of the film that actually works.

Such a failure was Green Lantern - grossing just $219 million worldwide - that it torpedoed the IP's cinematic potential completely. Though Warner Bros. insists a new Green Lantern movie is on the way, it's hard to be all that convinced.
