Every Superhero Movie This Decade Ranked - Worst To Best

12. Wonder Woman (2017)

What a pleasant surprise this was. Expectations were suitably low for Wonder Woman pre-release following the disappointment of the previous year's DCEU movies, but thanks to Patty Jenkins' solid direction and Gal Gadot's iconic work in the title role, Wonder Woman remains the franchise's sole critically-acclaimed movie to date.

While Jenkins overdoes the slow-motion action a little and the CGI-soaked finale is a mess, the movie largely delivers pulsing, character-driven action, a rich period setting, endearing characters and a surprisingly moving love story.

It's not a criticism of Gadot to say that Chris Pine's Steve Trevor ends up matching her beat-for-beat here, and so it'll be a shame that he won't be around for next year's sequel (or will he?).
