Every Tim Burton Film Ranked From Worst To Best
18. Dumbo
The trend of Disney remaking their classic animated films into live-action is one that has been a huge commercial success for the company, but not a critical one. In every case, it is simply too difficult to understand why the project even exists outside of monetary value, which strips the movies entirely of their charm and wonder, and this film completely follows in these footsteps.
Dumbo chronicles the antics of a young elephant who has ears that are large enough to help him fly. After working to save his circus from collapse, he and his friends learn of a sinister new venture that reveals some dark secrets within the organisation.
This remake does nothing to improve upon the initial animation, in fact, its lack of songs and boring art style actually end up detracting from the wonderful feeling of the original. As with every other Disney remake, the film repeats something we have seen before in a more "realistic" way, and only sours your relationship with the title.
Even great actors like Danny DeVito, Eva Green and Michael Keaton couldn't do anything to save this film from feeling entirely devoid of life. It is a CGI filled, uncreative and completely soulless project.
