Every Tim Burton Film Ranked From Worst To Best

17. Mars Attacks!

Edward Scissorhands, like Tim Burton, just can't reach out and touch others
Warner Bros.

This movie has an obvious goal to be reminiscent of the terrible B-movie work of directors like Ed Wood. However, while this does reveal that the film is deliberately made to be awful, its self-aware intentions don't stop it from being an irritating and chaotic mess.

Mars Attacks sees a collection of people across the world as they navigate and attempt to survive a brutal Martian invasion. These aliens have deadly weapons and a cruel sense of humour that makes them unbelievably cold. In addition to this, they're incredibly annoying, as they are created through dated CGI and have a language that makes watching painful at times.

The collection of actors accumulated in this project are unbelievable, Jack Nicholson, Pierce Brosnan, Glenn Close, Danny DeVito and Sarah Jessica Parker, to name a few. But despite all of these wonderful names, no one gives a decent enough performance to save the film from its abrasively loud visual style.

Some people love this title, and if you do then good for you, ack ack your heart out, but its ugly presentation is monstrously contrasting to the rest of this director's work.
