Every Tom Cruise Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

32. Valkyrie (2008)

Tom Cruise Interview With The Vampire
20th Century Studios

Based on the true story of a group of German soldiers who attempted to assassinate Adolf Hitler and overthrow the rule of the Nazis, Valkyrie finds Cruise strangely cast as resistance fighter Claus von Stauffenberg.

Featuring some engaging tension and solid set pieces, the thriller might end up becoming a simple action flick rather than the enveloping biopic it claims to be, but Cruise and the rest of the ensemble (Bill Nighy, Kenneth Branagh, Terence Stamp) do their best to keep it from falling apart.

A more dramatic script would have made the whole thing more emotionally enrapturing, but considering what we got, it's fair to say it could have been a lot worse and isn't a total disappointment.

Aidan Whatman hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
