Every Tom Cruise Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
16. The Firm (1993)
A by-the-books legal thriller from director Sydney Pollack, what makes The Firm so enthralling is the work of its core cast, which is led by Cruise, an Oscar-nominated Holly Hunter, and Gene Hackman.
Smartly structured, even if its outcome is clear fairly early on, the film moves with great energy and finds Cruise working wonders as deceived lawyer Mitch McDeere.
Cruise plays Mitch as paranoid, out of his depth but confident and assured, and the film allows the actor a great amount of time to understand and assess the underlying uncertainties and imperfections of his character. As safe as its story may appear, Cruise's performance is truly inspired.
