Tom Cruise Interview With The Vampire
20th Century Fox

Lions for Lambs is a political drama that poses the question: How do you get Meryl Streep, Robert Redford (who also directed), and Tom Cruise into one movie and make them all look embarrassed to be there?

A piece of sloppy social commentary about the Iraq War, the film is overwrought with sentimentality and simple answers to big, complex questions, and Cruise's portrayal of a slippery Republican senator who clashes with Streep's liberal journalist is neither intimidating nor memorable.

Despite the talent and its lofty intentions, the film's lack of subtly and strangely narrow-minded worldview lets it down in the end, and leaves its star-studded cast without a paddle.
