Every Tom Cruise Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

36. Far And Away (1992)

Tom Cruise Interview With The Vampire
Universal Pictures

Ron Howard's romantic fable Far and Away is slow, unengaging and sloppy, and at 140-minutes feels a hell of a lot longer by the time the credits start rolling.

The story of two Irish immigrants (Cruise and Nicole Kidman), the film moves at glacial pace through an overwrought slog of tired historical romance themes and jarring character development, all of which is emphasised by the spotty accents of its misplaced stars.

But, credit where it's due: Some of the scenes are beautifully shot, capturing the sweeping backdrop of the film's 19th century setting, and Cruise at least deserves some credit for trying something new.
