Re-teaming with Top Gun director Tony Scott, Days of Thunder finds Cruise playing an up-and-coming NASCAR racer trying to make a name for himself in the midst of numerous personal and professional struggles.

Basically watching like a less inspired rehash of Top Gun - only with cars and somehow more cheesy dialogue - Days of Thunder has some sparks of entertainment thanks to co-stars Robert Duvall and Nicole Kidman, but the uninspired effects and Cruise's uninterested central performance leaves it feeling unforgivably banal.

Fun if you're after something mindless and quintessentially 80s/90s? Sure. But that's about it.
