Every Upcoming Disney Live-Action Remake - Ranked By Hype

1. The Lion King

And finally, our #1 pick couldn't go to any movie other than The Lion King, if only because it's being directed by Jon Favreau, who helmed the best live-action Disney remake to date, 2016's The Jungle Book.

That's to say nothing of how beloved the original animation is or the absolutely loaded cast this movie has assembled, including Donald Glover (Simba), a returning James Earl Jones (Mufasa), Chiwetel Ejifor (Scar), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa), Billy Eichner (Timon), Alfre Woodard (Sarabi), Beyonce (Nala), John Kani (Rafiki) and John Oliver (Zazu). Phew.

The teaser trailer looks fantastic, showing off both the jaw-dropping visual effects and the general mood of the movie, which seems like a perfect reinvention of perhaps Disney's most beloved 90s animated film.

Don't be surprised if, in addition to being the only movie that can compete with the box office of Avengers: Endgame this year, The Lion King ends up 2019's best-reviewed blockbuster.

The Lion King lands on July 19.

Which upcoming live-action Disney remakes are you most looking forward to? Which, if any, are you dreading? Shout it out in the comments!
