6. Star Wars Episode IX

Status: Filming starts July 2017.

How on Earth do you make not only the end of the most anticipated modern blockbuster trilogy but also the end of the trilogy of Star Wars trilogies that may end the Skywalker saga? With a bang, probably.

Without knowing where The Last Jedi ends, it's hard to say a great deal about the shape of Episode IX, but given that Star Wars rhymes, it's probably reasonable to say that it starts from a pretty grim foundation and ends with the triumph of good over evil. Unless Disney want to completely mess with their fans' expectations and let the Empire win, of course?

One thing that we do know is that General Leia Organa will not be involved, even though she was initially intended to, after the death of Carrie Fisher. Presumably, some story provision will be made, since she apparently wasn't set to be killed off in The Last Jedi.

All news on this film will likely be met with lots of over-excitement, but don't expect much until after Episode VIII is out of the way. And maybe also Han Solo.
