Every Will Smith Movie Ranked Worst To Best

1. King Richard (2021)

King Richard
Warner Bros.

Make no mistake: Will Smith's latest triumph is without doubt his finest hour, and the single most challenging movie he's ever tackled.

In it, he plays Richard Williams, the indomitable father of tennis superstars Venus and Serena, a man who was at once stubborn and confrontational, loving and arrogant, and troubled and relentless. Smith captures all of Richard's complexities, and in the end makes him likeable without shying away from his flaws.

Like all sports biopics, King Richard is uplifting, slightly fictionalised and predictable, but it's also something quite unique, focusing on a man who for many is to be idolised or scrutinised in equal measure.

Whatever the case, it's a startling drama with heaps of heart, and Will Smith's greatest performance hammers King Richard's brilliance home beautifully.

Aidan Whatman hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
