Every Will Smith Movie Ranked Worst To Best

27. Seven Pounds (2008)

King Richard
Sony Pictures

Two years after The Pursuit of Happyness, Smith decided to shoot for another devastating drama with thoughtful implications, but instead made Seven Pounds, a manipulative and needlessly convoluted misfire with misguided twists to spare.

Though Smith gives a compelling and quiet performance as a man desperate to atone for a past sin, the film around him is far too dark and sombre to allow you to focus on him. Its heavy-handed drama and last act shock ultimately make it an ugly viewing experience.

From its cruelly dark exploration of redemption and death to its infamous jellyfish scene, Seven Pounds is best left forgotten despite Smith's best efforts.
