Every Wolverine Movie Performance Ranked Worst To Best
5. X-Men
Damn, it's hard to believe that Hugh Jackman has been playing Wolverine for over fifteen years, first appearing as the character way back in 2000's X-Men. Yes, X-Men is the place audiences saw the first major on-screen iteration of the character, and the film does a great job of setting him up.
That being said, Logan is quite different in X-Men to the character we now love. There are similarities, of course, but if you go back and watch 2000's X-Men you might be struck by just how much of an as*hole Wolverine is. Of course, being an as*hole is one of Wolverine's defining characteristics, but you generally get the sense he's been shaped that way by his prolonged life. Not so much in X-Men.
In X-Men, there just isn't enough context to make him totally likeable, especially given his creepy obsession with Jean Grey. Nevertheless, there's enough charisma in Jackman's performance to make it memorable, and few will forget the first time the world saw the character on-screen.
